Moscow Metro Moscow Metro Panel

Here are the Stained Glass photographs I mentioned earlier taken whilst on holiday in April this year in Moscow. Although we went on to St. Petersburg I didn't manage to view any glass panels there.

These first two pics were taken on the Moscow metro. I wasn't able to step back any further to get full screen shots of the leaded panels because of the crowds and they were crowds believe you me.

The panels, in common with many others, were put up during the Stalinist era when most of the work was done on the metro. I believe that the seated figure at the top of one of the panels is supposed to represent Lenin.

Most of the stations around the metro contain ceilings painted with incredible works of art, numerous bronze statues, brilliant mosaics and chandeliers you have never seen the like of before, and this is all on the underground!!!

These two large panels are on show in the Victory Park war museum on the outskirts of Moscow, the museum is incredible, you must pop in there sometime!

Each panel is approx. 5m x 15m (in English money 15' x 45').

Unfortunately nobody could explain to me what they represented but there is a chance that one of the visitors to your website might have a clue.
There were many panels like these but we had to keep up with the tour guide and so I missed lots more.

I couldn't resist this massive lamp on the ceiling of the museum. Although it only had a few pieces of coloured glass it looked absolutely fantastic in its setting.
